Emarosa – High Horse Heaven

Black vinyl record with a cream Emarosa – High Horse Heaven label against a warm pink and brown background.

Something for my friends who like heavier music.

High Horse Heaven was released on 24 April 2026.

The band originally came from the American post-hardcore and screamo scene. Their earlier music was much heavier, more emotional and more chaotic. But rather than simply becoming ever heavier or more interchangeable, Emarosa eventually took a completely different path.

And that is exactly how they arrived at something that sounds strikingly distinctive today: essentially rock music that no longer behaves like conventional rock music.

Rock music that behaves differently

You can hear that particularly well on their new album High Horse Heaven from 2026.

Synthwave, 1980s influences, funk, pop and electronic elements meet here, with rock energy still running through it all. In theory, this mixture ought not to work. Yet it works remarkably well.

Singer Bradley Walden plays a huge part in that. He joined the band in 2013 and changed Emarosa considerably. You hear it when you listen to the albums from before his arrival and then those with him. His voice is not that conventional hard rock vocal either. And I think that is precisely why these modern synth and rock combinations work so well.

What stays with me

Rock that follows its own path

I am curious to hear how you get on with this album. I think the record is brilliant.
