Privacy policy
Here you can find out which data is processed on klanggeschichten.club and on the Instagram presence @klanggeschichten.club, particularly when commenting, subscribing and getting in touch.
Controller and contact
Michael Buller is responsible for Klanggeschichten. You can find my full contact details in the legal notice. If you have questions about privacy, you can contact me at michis-oldtimer@gmx.de . Last updated: 11 October 2026.
Hosting and technical access data
This website is hosted by WordPress.com, a service provided by Automattic. When you visit, the hosting provider processes technical data such as your IP address, browser, operating system, requested address and time of access. This serves to provide, secure and troubleshoot the website. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest is the secure operation of this private music blog. Information about processing and possible international data transfers can be found in Automattic’s privacy notice for website visitors.
Comments and spam checks
When you comment, your supplied name, email address, comment and technical data are stored for processing and spam prevention. Your name and comment are only displayed publicly after my approval; your email address is not published. All comments are reviewed personally. Advertising, spam and unlawful content are not published and are deleted. Automattic’s Akismet is active for spam prevention. Comment and technical data are transmitted to that service. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: protection against spam and misuse, and the operation of the requested exchange. Comments generally remain with the article until removed; you can ask me to remove them. Further information: Akismet and privacy.
Email subscription
You can subscribe to new articles through the WordPress.com/Jetpack subscription function. This is one shared newsletter with German and English previews and links to the respective stories. Subscription-service messages may appear in German. This processes your email address, subscription and the technical data required for delivery. The subscription only becomes effective through the confirmation link in the email (double opt-in). The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email. This does not affect the lawfulness of previous deliveries. The service may also process technical delivery, opening and click information. Details can be found in the Jetpack privacy information.
Statistics, cookies and WordPress functions
WordPress.com provides integrated visitor statistics through Jetpack Stats. Automattic processes data including the IP address, page visited, referring page, time, browser information and location information derived from it; account details may also be included for logged-in WordPress.com users. I see aggregated reports rather than individual visitor profiles. According to WordPress.com, technical statistics logs are retained for 28 days. Further information can be found in the Jetpack Stats documentation and the provider’s privacy notices linked above. The statistics serve my interest in assessing the use and clarity of this private blog. Where consent is legally required, this balancing of interests cannot replace it.
The display of Gravatar avatars, Like buttons, comment Likes and Reblog buttons is disabled. Individual technical WordPress.com components may still be loaded. WordPress.com also uses technically necessary cookies, for example for login and subscription functions. Optional cookies or comparable access requiring consent may only be used after the corresponding consent has been given. The functions actually used and the provider’s information are decisive.
External links and contact
The Instagram and TIDAL sections contain ordinary external links. No Instagram posts, social-media plugins or TIDAL players are embedded there. Preview images are provided through this website’s infrastructure. Merely displaying these links does not establish a connection to Instagram or TIDAL; the respective platform opens in a new tab only when you click. The respective provider’s privacy notices apply to its own data processing. If you send me an email, I use your information to handle your enquiry and delete it once it is no longer needed for that purpose, unless statutory retention obligations apply. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR or, for contract-related enquiries where applicable, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.
Klanggeschichten’s Instagram presence
This privacy information also applies to my Instagram presence @klanggeschichten.club. I use it to present music recommendations and hi-fi stories and to exchange views with interested people. Michael Buller is responsible for my own content and the handling of your messages; contact details are given above and in the legal notice. You can also reach me by email outside Instagram.
When you comment on posts, interact with them or send me a direct message, I see and process the content you send and the profile information visible in that context, such as your username. Public comments are visible to others. I use this information for communication and moderation; the legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, my legitimate interest in exchanging views about music and protecting against misuse. Article 6(1)(b) GDPR may apply to contract-related enquiries. I retain messages only as long as necessary to handle them, unless statutory retention obligations require otherwise. Public comments generally remain with the post until removed by you, me or Instagram. You can ask me to delete content I process.
Instagram is operated for users in the European Economic Area by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. When the profile is visited, Meta processes data including technical access data, device and account information, and usage and interaction data. This may also affect people who are not logged in to Instagram. Meta may process data for its own purposes, such as personalisation and advertising, and transfer it to countries outside the European Economic Area. I have only limited influence over Meta’s processing, retention periods and international transfers. Information about legal bases, recipients, transfers and your settings and objection options can be found in the Instagram/Meta privacy policy.
For the professional Instagram profile, Meta also provides aggregated reach and interaction statistics (Insights). These help assess and improve the content. The displayed statistics do not give me access to individual visitor usage profiles. My legitimate interest is in presenting the profile clearly and engagingly (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Joint controllership with Meta under Article 26 GDPR may apply to the personal data processed to create Insights; this must be distinguished from Meta’s other independent processing. You can exercise the rights described below with me regarding my processing, and also with Meta regarding platform processing.
Your personal saved list
You can collect selected stories in a personal saved list. Only when you click “Save for later” are the article address, title, brief article information, album release date where applicable, thumbnail address and time of saving stored in your browser’s localStorage under the key “kg-en-saved-stories-v1” for English pages. The German saved list uses the separate key “kg-merkzettel-v1”. This function does not transmit your selection to me or to a saved-list server, and it is not used for advertising or visitor analytics. No user account is needed.
The list is limited to 100 stories and remains stored in that browser on that device until you remove entries or delete the website data. It is not available on other devices or in other browsers. In private mode, it may be lost when the session ends. Article pages and title images load in the same way as other page visits and are subject to the technical access data described above.
The PDF is created locally in your browser. We do not upload your selection to a PDF service for this purpose. You save the finished PDF on your device yourself; it cannot restore a deleted browser list. The saved-list comment action is not enabled on English story pages. The rules for comment processing described above apply only if you actually submit a comment. More information about using the function can be found on My saved stories.
Your rights
Subject to the statutory conditions, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your particular situation. You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, particularly the authority responsible for your place of residence. The Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision is responsible for me: www.lda.bayern.de.
